For the Public
Information for patients, and relatives of patients, interested in learning about the different phases of clinical trials, and what happens after we have received a referral.
What are Phase I Trials?
Phase I is the initial phase, carried out to find out how safe and how effective a drug (or drug combination) is at treating cancer.
What are Phase II Trials?
Phase II trials follow on from Phase I trials and continue to test the safety of a drug or combination of drugs.
How do I get a referral to enter a Phase I trial?
We cannot take direct referrals from patients but accept referrals from Oncologists and GPs. Referrals should be sent by post or email.
What happens after a referral?
Once we have received a referral, you will be invited to come in for an appointment to meet one of the research doctors.
